The Devils Beach - The Omaha Landings
The Beach That Had to Be Taken
The Devil’s Beach: The Omaha Landings places you in command during one of the most intense and decisive moments of World War II. On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord, the massive invasion of Nazi-occupied Europe. Among the landing zones, Omaha Beach became the most fiercely contested battlefield. German defenses dominated the bluffs, machine gun nests covered the open sand, and every yard forward demanded courage and sacrifice.
In this tactical wargame, you command American assault forces fighting to break through the heavily fortified German positions guarding the Normandy coastline. Infantry platoons, engineers, Rangers, tanks, artillery, and naval gunfire support combine in a desperate effort to secure the beachhead and push inland toward the villages and draws that control access to the interior.
The game map represents a two-kilometer stretch of Omaha Beach, including the Dog Green, Dog White, Dog Red, and Charlie sectors. The battlefield extends from the shoreline across the open beach and up through the fortified draws leading toward Vierville and Les Moulins. Each turn represents a short period of combat during the chaotic early hours of the invasion.
Players coordinate their firepower, movement, and close assault to overcome fortified German defenses. American forces must cross exposed beaches under heavy fire, breach bunkers, and secure critical terrain. German defenders rely on prepared positions, artillery, and disciplined counterattacks to hold the line and prevent the Allied breakthrough.
Special capabilities such as engineer assault teams clearing obstacles, Rangers scaling terrain others cannot cross, amphibious Sherman DD tanks supporting the landing, and naval gunfire from U.S. destroyers add historical depth and tactical variety to every battle.
Two scenarios allow players to relive the historic landing or explore alternate outcomes, including the brutal fight for the beach itself and a German counterattack near Vierville on the following day.
The Devil’s Beach delivers intense tactical combat, dramatic decision making, and high replay value as each battle unfolds differently through random events, shifting battlefield conditions, and player strategy. The fate of the invasion rests in your command.
