In June 1942, Japanese forces seized Attu Island in the Aleutians, the only North American soil occupied during the war. From this remote outpost, they threatened vital sea lanes in the North Pacific. In May 1943, United States forces struck back. Soldiers of the 7th Infantry Division fought uphill against nearly 2,500 entrenched defenders of the 301st Independent Infantry Battalion.
What followed was a brutal, three-week Arctic campaign across snow, rock, and fog-shrouded ridges. The battle ended in one of the largest Banzai charges of the Pacific War.
Hell Frozen Over is an expansion module for Heroes of the Pacific. This module delivers nine intense scenarios set on a massive 22-by-34-inch map that captures Attu’s harsh, unforgiving terrain.
Battle Across Attu’s Deadly Landscape
• Eight elevation levels that dominate the line of sight and movement
• Muskeg that slows every advance
• Rough, Cliffs, and Razorback ridges that channel attacks
• Historic objectives including Clevesy Pass, Cold Mountain, Engineer Hill, Sarana Valley, and Prendergast Ridge
• Extreme weather effects, including dense fog and sudden Williwaw winds
Every hex matters. Every ridge costs blood. The fight moves yard by yard, bullet by bullet, often hand-to-hand. Victory demands careful planning, steady leadership, and relentless pressure.
