Clash of Steel at Kursk

Where Tigers Meet T-34s

Dark July recreates the brutal fighting west of Prokhorova from July 9 to July 12, 1943, during the Battle of Kursk. This campaign placed Soviet defenders against the attacking 1st SS Panzergrenadier Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler in one of the largest armored confrontations in history.

This is the Second Edition of Lock ’n Load: Dark July. Tanks roll forward across open fields and fortified lines as Tigers and T-34s collide at close range. Every decision matters when armor, infantry, and anti-tank weapons converge on a narrow front.

Massive Historical Battlefield

Four 11 by 17-inch non-geomorphic maps combine to form a full 22 by 34 inch historical battlefield. The map covers:

• Hill 252.2
• Soviet trench systems to the east
• The Oktiabrski State Farm to the north

The terrain reflects real defensive works, open fields, and key objectives that shaped the outcome of the fighting.

Six Intense Scenarios

Dark July includes six scenarios, five of which use the large historical map. You command either determined Soviet forces defending prepared positions or aggressive German panzergrenadiers driving forward with armored support.

Expanded Rules and Battlefield Options

This module introduces additional rules and tactical elements, including:

• RPG 43 handheld anti-tank grenades
• Anti-tank mines and ditches
• Low wheat fields that affect visibility and movement
• Tank emplacements
• Roadblocks and prepared defenses

Dark July is an expansion module and requires a complete Lock ’n Load Tactical core game to play.

If you want large-scale armored clashes, prepared defenses, and historic Eastern Front combat, Dark July delivers one of the defining battles of World War II to your table.

Engaging Gameplay Mechanics

Dark July 43 is designed to transport players into an immersive war experience, allowing them to engage in thrilling tactical battles. The game encourages strategic thinking and planning, requiring players to make key decisions that affect the course of the conflict. Players must analyze their surroundings and utilize their resources wisely, which adds layers of depth to the gameplay. The mechanics are straightforward, making it accessible for players at various skill levels.
