The War of Brother Against Brother

Take command. Rewrite history. Preserve or shatter a nation.

Victory and Glory: The American Civil War is a grand strategy computer game from Lock ’n Load Publishing that places you in command during one of the most defining conflicts in United States history. This turn based strategy experience blends national leadership, military command, and battlefield decision making into a single campaign where every choice shapes the course of the war.

Step into the role of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis and guide your nation through the struggle between the Union and the Confederacy. You manage armies, direct military campaigns, control resources, and make political decisions that influence morale, diplomacy, and the long-term war effort. Victory requires careful planning and strong leadership across both the battlefield and the national stage.

The campaign unfolds across a large strategic map of the United States from 1861 through 1865. Cities, rivers, rail networks, and key regions form the backbone of the war effort. Control of these locations determines supply lines, troop movement, and the ability to reinforce distant fronts. Every turn forces you to balance offensive operations with national survival.

When commanding the Union, your objective focuses on preserving the nation. You blockade Southern ports, capture strategic cities, and use superior industry and manpower to pressure the Confederacy from multiple directions. Success requires coordination of armies across several theaters while maintaining political support for the war.

When leading the Confederacy, survival depends on mobility, leadership, and endurance. You rely on skilled generals, aggressive maneuver, and defensive positioning to counter the Union advantage in manpower and resources. A well executed strategy forces the North into costly campaigns and opens the possibility of foreign recognition or political collapse.

Victory and Glory introduces a dynamic card system which adds historical decisions and events into the campaign. Cards represent political actions, technological advances, leadership opportunities, and unexpected developments during the war. Events such as the Emancipation Proclamation, Ironclad warships, and strategic initiatives influence diplomacy, logistics, and battlefield effectiveness.

Combat takes place at the operational level, where the leadership and skill of your generals play a decisive role. Commanders such as Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, William T. Sherman, and Stonewall Jackson lead armies across major campaigns. Terrain, supply lines, morale, and command quality all influence the outcome of battles.

Naval power also shapes the conflict. River fleets and coastal blockades control trade, movement, and supply across the continent. The Union blockade restricts Southern resources while Confederate naval operations attempt to disrupt Northern plans and maintain vital supply routes.

The game includes historical scenarios as well as alternate history situations which explore different paths the war might have taken. These scenarios challenge players to test new strategies, explore different decisions, and examine how small changes might have altered the outcome of the conflict.

Featuring:

  • Epic Campaign Map – A richly detailed strategic map covering the entire United States during the 1861–1865 period.
  • Dynamic Card System – Use historical event cards to influence battles, diplomacy, logistics, and morale. From the Emancipation Proclamation to the Ironclads, your decisions shape history.
  • Operational-Level Combat – Command iconic generals like Grant, Lee, Sherman, and Jackson across key battles and campaigns. Terrain, supply, and leadership all matter.
  • Naval Warfare & Blockades – Control river fleets and coastal blockades that can turn the tide of war.
  • Historical & "What If" Scenarios – Stay true to history or explore alternate outcomes in custom scenarios that ask “what could have been?”

Victory and Glory: The American Civil War offers a deep and replayable strategic experience for both dedicated wargamers and students of history. Each campaign develops differently as leadership decisions, battlefield outcomes, and political pressures reshape the struggle between North and South.

The fate of a divided nation rests on your decisions. Will you reunite the Union or secure Southern independence? History waits for your command.

History is watching. The fate of a nation is in your hands.
