Glory and Empire - First Victories Companion Book
Portugal, 1808
A Napoleonic brigade does what its formation lets it do. Get it into the wrong one at the wrong moment and there is nothing you can say that will fix it in time.
Rolica and Vimeiro are yours, from either side.
Infantry in line or in square, cavalry looking for the moment the square is not there yet, and artillery working on whichever of them is standing still. Combined arms is not a bonus here. It is the only thing that works.
Orders Take Time to Arrive
Your leaders issue commands and those commands are delayed and constrained the way they were. You are not moving pieces. You are telling somebody a long way off what you would like to happen and then watching to see whether it does.
Men Break Before Units Die
Morale and fatigue decide most engagements. A brigade under sustained pressure falters long before it is destroyed, so managing what your men can still be asked to do matters more than counting their muskets.
Glory and Empire - First Victories Companion book covers all the module rules, scenarios and important player aids. The Companion book can be used along with our board game edition or for virtual gaming online.
