In the days following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese forces moved quickly to seize strategic positions across the Pacific. One of their first targets was Wake Island, defended by a small force of United States Marines and civilian construction workers who suddenly found themselves standing against a powerful invasion force. 

In this fast-paced tactical game, players command either the defending American forces or the invading Japanese fleet and landing units. The Marines must organize a determined defense using coastal artillery, anti-aircraft guns, and the few surviving fighter aircraft on the island. The Japanese player coordinates air strikes, naval bombardment, and amphibious assaults to break the defenses and capture the island.

Wake Island: A Heroic Defiance combines land, air, and naval combat into a streamlined system that highlights the critical decisions faced by both sides. Players manage bombing raids, naval gunfire, fighter interceptions, and ground assaults as the battle unfolds across the island’s key invasion points and the vital airfield.

The game recreates the two historic invasion attempts against Wake Island in December 1941. The first assault was repelled by the determined Marine defenders, while the second brought overwhelming Japanese reinforcements in a desperate struggle for control of the island.
