Close Quarter Battles - Waterloo
Tactical Napoleonic Warfare
Hougoumont should have fallen before noon. A walled farm, a wooden gate, and a handful of defenders were all that stood there, and Napoleon threw a third of his army at it without ever taking it.
You take command at Waterloo on the eighteenth of June 1815, down at the level where the day was really won and lost, in the orchard, along the sunken road, and at that gate.
How It Plays
Form line and pour fire into the advance, throw square and pray the cavalry breaks before your men do, or go to column and move fast while hoping nothing catches you in the open. Ammunition runs down, fatigue builds, and morale cracks long before the casualties justify it. Push your officers forward to carry orders and rally the wavering, then watch what happens to that flank when one of them goes down.
Your units are activated by card draw, so nobody at the table knows whose turn comes next, or how long a line has to hold before help arrives.
Take Either Side
Hold La Haye Sainte against everything the French can send at it. Or take the French side, and finish what Ney could not.
Everything you need is in the box. Close Quarter Battles: Waterloo is a complete tactical game in the Close Quarter Battles series.
